Meet our Watercolour portrait artist
We asked our Watercolour Artist some questions about being an illustrator, here's what she said...
What inspired you to become a pet portrait artist, and how did you develop your unique style?
Because I like dogs and cats, I also have some pet dogs and cats, so I thought of making a portrait photo for my favorite pet
Can you walk us through your process of creating a custom pet portrait?
I created it through photoshop, and drew it layer by layer
What is the most challenging aspect of creating these portraits, and how do you overcome it?
The most challenging aspect was when I encountered photos that were of poor quality, and I had to work hard to get the results I wanted
How do you capture the personality and essence of each pet in your artwork?
An environmental portrait shows the pet in a specific setting, such as a park, beach, or home environment. This type of composition can create a narrative or tell a story about the pet's life and experiences.
Do you have tips for pet owners to provide the best reference photos for their pet's portrait?
Try to take pictures with the camera positioned at eye level, and use natural light so that the color of their fur is not too different from the original.
How do you handle creating portraits of pets with unique features or markings?
I try not to change their unique features too much.
Overall, the composition options for pet portraits are wide-ranging and offer many possibilities for capturing the unique character and personality of each pet. The choice of composition will depend on the client’s preference, and the desired effect of the final artwork.
